PIB labels Intelligence Bureau job notice as fake
The PIB Fact Check Unit — a fact-check arm of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) — Wednesday stamped a genuine recruitment notice of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) as fake. However, after it realised the advertisement was genuine, the PIB Fact Check Unit deleted the tweet that had called the notice fake.
The recruitment notice, which was doing the rounds on social media, stated that 2,000 vacancies for the post of Assistant Central Intelligence Officer (ACIO) are to be filled in the IB and candidates should be graduates.
But in a tweet Thursday, Employment News stated that the IB confirmed in writing that the advertisement was genuine. It said the advertisement was scheduled to be released on 19 December. Employment News is the flagship weekly job journal of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.

Sources in the government said it was the IB that pointed out to the I&B ministry that the PIB Fact Check Unit labelled a genuine advertisement floated by it as fake.
While it was not known how this error happened, sources said this particular advertisement might not have gone through all levels of checks before it was stamped as fake. The Fact Check Unit of PIB attempts to verify all government-related news suo motu or when brought to its notice.

Priyanka gives earful to her team over UP bypoll results
After the Congress’ poor performance in the recent bypolls to seven assembly seats and 11 legislative council seats in Uttar Pradesh, party general secretary (Uttar Pradesh East) Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has given a dressing-down to her team.
UP congress president Ajay Lallu and Priyanka’s close aide Sandeep Singh must now prove their mettle in the panchayat polls that are likely to be held early next year.
Source said Priyanka also asked for a report on the expenditures of the Congress unit from the beginning of the lockdown and till the bypoll campaign got over. It also includes money spent on the renovation of the state Congress headquarters in Lucknow.
Lallu has gone off Twitter since that meeting with Priyanka last week. He said he is working 24×7 to deliver results in the panchayat polls. Party leaders said Priyanka will visit several districts in Uttar Pradesh in the run-up to the panchayat polls.
