If protecting individual liberty is Supreme Court’s primary obligation, it must bring greater clarity and equity to its processes too. It frowned upon Kerala journalist Siddique Kappan for not going to HC. But the defence claims Kappan wasn’t allowed to meet even his lawyers. If correct, this deserves stern penalties.
